Plastic Surgery is a life-changing choice, making the decision is the first step, the real struggle in your journey it’s what to expect after having plastic surgery. Here are 4 steps you will pass through in your Plastic Surgery Journey:
You Will Feel Like You Just Had Beaten
After the surgery, you will be going home with your post-op indications and you’ll most likely just want to lay in bed. The first symptom is that you’re going to feel beaten for the first 24 hours (maybe a week in some cases) after plastic surgery, and remember any initial discomfort is totally worth it, in the end, you are going to love your results!
Bruising and Swelling Will Appear
Once your surgery has done, bruising and swelling will be part of your body’s normal healing process. When you undergo plastic surgery, the healing process is just a bit more striking.
In the days after plastic surgery, you will notice some discoloration and purple or black bruising on your body (the areas where you have your surgery). But don’t worry, the bruising is 100% totally normal and will go away in about seven to ten days.
Most of the patients think that they are looking their results once they go out of the surgery, but swelling can make your results look different (maybe a little tight and distort from the results you want), the area operated may look worse at first – but this is completely normal.
Also, it’s important you know that swelling fluctuates. You may say or think, “Finally, the swelling is gone!” But it can come back again if you don’t take care and you start again the gym or any other activity without the doctor’s concern. That’s why every doctor will tell you it’s important to rest, and if you don’t, your body won’t recover.
Take Care of the Incision Site
Infection is a risk with any surgery. It’s important to keep the incision clean and moist, which is why we tell our plastic surgery patients to gently cleaning off any scabs with half-strength hydrogen peroxide and using antibiotic ointment liberally to keep the incision site moist. Remember, light bleeding is normal.
You should be on the lookout for is yellow or pus-like discharge, an angry, red incision site and a fever above 101.5 Fahrenheit. This is the symptoms of an infection.
Be Patient with Your Results
The body’s healing process is not only complex and involved, but it also is unique to each person. Be patient with yourself and the process. Your results may appear at least in a year from your surgery. In that time, your body will get back to normal after all the stress passed through.
