What to expect from a Mommy Makeover?

While pregnancy and having children is a beautiful, life-changing experience, the process of becoming a mother can take a significant toll causing changes to women’s body, changes that can usually only be changed by plastic surgery, for which Mommy Makeover was created, a combination of procedures that will help get you back to your pre baby body. Mommy Makeover can also be done for women who have lost a significant amount of weight and have similar body issues.

What procedures englobe a Mommy Makeover?

Tummy Tuck

There a 3 different types of Tummy Tuck’s. You have your regular Tummy Tuck which the incision is made from hipbone to hipbone. There’s also Semi Circular Tummy Tuck, and the incision from this one goes from flank to flank. The final one is a Circular Tummy Tuck, for which the incision goes all the way around, in a circular form and the name suggests.

These procedures will help reconstruct the abdominal wall and remove all the excess skin left from both pregnancy and weight loss, giving you a flat stomach.

Breast Lift with or with out implants

Similar to the abdomen, pregnancy commonly causes breast enlargement. And afterwards they tend to sag and loose their “perkiness”. For which a breast enhancement is suggested, let it be only an augmentation to make them fuller or paired with a Lift to remove excess skin and reposition the areola to where it used to be, or in some cases patients only need a Breast Lift, each woman has different necessities.

Liposuction or Lipoinjection (Brazilian Butt Lift)

Liposuction is suggested in some cases to further contour the body. It removes fat deposits on the abdomen, flanks, thighs, and other areas of the body. The specific are you’d need would have to be evaluated by your Doctor, to see what you are a candidate for. As for Lipoinjection, it includes as the name says injection of fat to your buttocks area, giving the buttocks a lifted fuller appearance.

Your chosen plastic surgeon would have to evaluate you and see what you specifically are a candidate for, each body is different for which each person has different necessities. Always make sure the surgeon you pick is board certified and counts with all his credentials.

Recovery process

For the Tummy Tuck, there will be drains on your lower abdomen that are generally removed 7 days after the surgery, but this is not a guarantee, for some patients might need to keep them longer, and this can only be determined on that 7th day. Most of the stitches do no have to be removed, they are absorbable. The only ones that do are 4 from the belly button (those get removed 3 weeks after the surgery).

Same as Tummy Tuck, stitched from breasts do not need to me removed for they are absorbable. You will have tapes over the incisions which are also removed 1 week after surgery.

You have to avoid any type of house work, heavy lifting, driving cooking, specially for the first 2 weeks, you need to be in absolute rest. Your Doctor will give you instructions on what you can do or not, through time, always make sure you have your Doctor’s authorization, to do any sort of activity.

Compression garments are also extremely important and need to be worn for however long your surgeon tells you. Inflammation can take up to 6 months to completely subside.

All in all, you will need approximately 4 to 6 weeks to recover properly.

You will have to fill out a Virtual Consultation, in which we ask you a few questions to be able to know whether or not you are eligible, this paired with pictures we also request to know what specific procedures you’d be a candidate for.
